Standing-Room Only at Conference Featuring International Panel of Experts
The DAN® Diving Fatalities Workshop hosted by the DAN Research department April 8-10, 2010, was a success. The two-and-a-half-day event featured an international panel of authorities on dive medicine, training and accident prevention and investigation, including cardiologists, epidemiologists and legal experts.
More than 100 people attended the event. In addition to the notable panel of experts, the audience and participants included representatives from most of the diving industry's training agencies, international DAN offices, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard and other professionals who consult on fatality investigations and post-mortem assessments.
“The feedback we’ve received has been extremely positive,” said Petar Denoble, DAN senior research director. “Everyone who attended the event was completely engaged, and we were able to discuss topics both of immediate concern and needing further study. It was a great weekend.”
For those not able to attend the Fatality Workshop, DAN Research will be releasing in the coming months the proceedings from the event. They will be in both audio-visual and printed form and available for download on the DAN website.
